Project Overview

ISO New England is developing a set of reforms to the current resource-retirement process that will:

• Improve the options available to market participants contemplating the removal of capacity permanently from the marketplace
• Allow the market to have a better opportunity to react to changes in the amount of existing capacity supply

The Resource Retirement Reforms project is just one of several key projects at the ISO, which continuously undertakes a variety of short- and long-term projects to enhance the region’s competitive wholesale electricity markets and ensure reliable operation of the power grid.
