Demand Response

What is Demand Response?

Demand Response is an agreement with retail customers to encourage them to reduce their electricity consumption during periods of peak demand. Demand Response at ISO New England is administered in the Real-Time Price Response Program and the Day-Ahead Load Response Program.

The Day-Ahead Demand Response Program allows Real-Time program participants to offer energy reductions (100 kW minimum) concurrent with the Day-Ahead Energy Market.

The Real-Time Load Response Program allows participants to curtail energy usage when a Real-Time Price Response Event is called by the ISO.

In what document(s) do I find details about Demand Response?

Primary provisions for the settlement of Demand Response are included in, but not limited to, ISO New England Market Rule 1: Appendix E and ISO New England Manual for Real-Time Price Response and Day-Ahead Load Response Programs (Manual M-RTPRP/DALRP).
