ISO New England has computed historical hourly wholesale electricity costs for all eight pricing zones in New England for the last seven years, through the most recently available month. The Wholesale Electricity Load Cost Estimator allows you to enter your own electricity usage to estimate your wholesale electricity costs for a particular timeframe, based on the seven-year comprehensive data set.

The tool's output is an estimate that is based on participating in the real-time wholesale electricity market only, and reflects the real-time wholesale costs of energy, ancillary services, capacity, and ISO charges. The tool does not take into account other costs that are outside of the wholesale market. An example of a cost that is not part of the tool includes the load-serving entities' energy procurement contracts.

After submitting your data, you will receive a summary report showing an estimated monthly wholesale cost breakdown for the consumption you entered. Because the major component costs of wholesale power vary by hour, the application will calculate a representative overall estimate, which is broken down into on-peak and off-peak hours. A comma-separated values (CSV) file of the data will be available for download.

When analyzing your estimates, note that past results are not necessarily an indication of how the wholesale electricity markets will perform in the future.
