Three-Day System Demand Forecast

View ISO New England’s hourly systemwide demand forecast for today and the next two days. This is the expected amount of electricity to be used in the New England Balancing Authority Area (BAA): Connecticut, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, Vermont, New Hampshire, and most of Maine. The forecast is updated twice daily at 6:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. eastern prevailing time.

Reading the Forecast

• Hour End: Hourly intervals on a 24-hour clock (military time). For example, “hour end 01” represents the time period between 12:01 a.m. and 1:00 a.m. eastern prevailing time.
• MWh: The demand for electricity measured in megawatt-hours within only the New England BAA, excluding any forecasted need/opportunity for exporting electricity to neighboring power grids. One megawatt-hour is equivalent to one megawatt of electricity extended over one hour, which can serve about 1,000 average homes in New England for about one hour.
  
  

  The forecasted demand incorporates the demand-reducing effects of regional energy-efficiency measures acquired through the Forward Capacity Market, distributed generation, and a reduction in peak load that can be expected from the region’s behind-the-meter photovoltaic installations at homes and businesses.
