At ISO New England, we recognize that climate change is real and happening now. It poses an existential threat to our planet, and reducing carbon emissions is critical to combating it.
During the next three decades, decarbonization will drive the “electrification of everything” and transform how we power our electric grid and our lives. To support this transition, the region needs significant amounts of clean energy, balancing resources, energy adequacy, and robust transmission. These four pillars, and the role of the ISO and regional stakeholders in ensuring their readiness to support the future grid, are the focus of the 2022 Regional Electricity Outlook: On the Horizon, published on the 25th anniversary of the ISO’s inception.
