The ISO may purchase energy from outside the New England Balancing Authority Area or directly from market participants under certain conditions as needed to alleviate or end an emergency condition. Pricing for these transactions is in accordance with agreements with other balancing authority areas, market participants, or as defined in ISO New England manuals (see below) and in the ISO Tariff.
