Gordon van Welie, president and CEO of ISO New England, updated reporters on the state of New England’s power system entering winter 2021/2022 during a media briefing on Monday, December 6. Peter Brandien, the ISO’s vice president of system operations and market administration, and Anne George, the ISO’s vice president of external affairs and corporate communications, joined van Welie. In his remarks, van Welie discussed the three variables that could lead to challenging operating conditions this winter: pipeline natural gas availability, the availability of other fuels, and weather conditions. Following the overview, van Welie, Brandien, and George took questions from the media.
This recording features audio and video of van Welie’s remarks (also available in written form), as well as the question-and-answer session that followed.
