Once you’ve confirmed that your project is eligible for ISO New England’s interconnection process and you’ve received a customer ID, obtained critical energy infrastructure information (CEII) clearance, and created an account in the Interconnection Request Tracking System (IRTT), you’re ready to submit an interconnection request (IR). After the ISO deems your IR valid, it will assign a queue position to your project in the ISO Interconnection Queue, putting you in line for the required prerequisite interconnection studies. Note that a queue position is required for participating as a new generating resource in the Forward Capacity Market (FCM).
On this page:
To ensure the most efficient process possible, get informed before submitting an IR:
Your IR must indicate the type of interconnection service your project requests:
The IR must be submitted to the ISO via the IRTT, a web-based application for submitting, tracking, and viewing interconnection requests. For an IR to be considered valid, it must:
View the following for IR submission details:
The ISO will acknowledge receipt of the interconnection request within three business days for small generators and within five business days for large generators or ETUs. The ISO will notify you if any requirements weren’t met, after which you’ll have 10 business days to correct any deficiencies. For assistance with the technical components of the Interconnection Request submission, refer to the Interconnection Request Submission Job Aid.
See the applicable Tariff section for full rules and details.
Note: ISO New England only accepts Electric Payment via Automated Clearing House (ACH) or Wire Transfer (Contact the Billing Department, billingdept@iso-ne.com, to receive the encrypted account information for the wire). Each method includes a Miscellaneous Information Field. Provide the Reference # (This is assigned to the project when the Interconnection Request is created) or the Queue Position in this field to avoid a deficiency that could occur if the ISO cannot identify the project.

All wind and inverter-based projects (e.g., solar, battery) must provide acceptable PSSE and PSCAD models. Other types of generators may also be required to supply an acceptable simulation model, as discussed at the scoping meeting. |
An acceptable PSSE model is required with technical data submission. PSCAD models may be requested and must be provided within 90 days of the request. |

Requests for an external ETU must provide evidence that a valid request to the other control area you seek to interconnect to was submitted within 60 days of submitting an interconnection request to the ISO, or the interconnection request will be immediately deemed withdrawn. |
Site map |
Provide a detailed map, such as those produced by the US Geological Survey, which clearly indicates the site of the new facility and pertinent surrounding structures. |

Site control documentation |
Those requesting capacity network resource or capacity network import interconnection service must provide documentation demonstrating site control under the same interconnection customer name.
